Kathmandu-A Ugandan woman has been arrested on the charge of engaging her Ugandan friend into a sex trade in Kathmandu.
The Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau arrested a woman known as Natasha on the charge of calling her friend in Kathmandu by offering attractive jobs in Nepal and then engaging her in sex trade.
According to Bureau spokesperson and SP Krishna Prasad Pangeni, it has been revealed that she invited a Ugandan woman to Nepal on a tourist visa and engaged her in sex trade. She had shown temptation that she would earn 500 US dollars by working as a cleaner, waitress, etc.
According to SP Pangeni, the victim and the perpetrator are old acquaintances in Uganda. “It seems that she was called because it would be easier to call a close friend to Nepal,” SP Pangeni told epardafas.
Natasha came to Nepal on December 8, 2022 and was staying at Hotel Journey Home Pvt Ltd in Thamel.
According to the police, the victim had arrived in Nepal on January 28 after being lured by Natasha.
SP Pangeni said that after calling to Nepal, she brought the victim to the hotel where she herself was staying and forced her to have physical contact with people of Nepali and Indian origin. A week after engaging in such work, the victim fell ill.
After falling ill, she left the hotel and went to Tribhuvan International Airport to return to Uganda. However, it has been found that Natasha canceled her air ticket.
The victim contacted the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau after her ticket got cancelled.
The police arrested Natasha on February 27, the same day the victim filed a complaint.
Further investigation is going on.
